Why is it called "Octothorpe"? An Octothorpe is the symbol of a "hashtag" and is comprised of two words, "Octo," meaning eight, and "Thorpe," meaning town or village. The center of the hashtag represents a town/village with eight surrounding areas creating a community. Musicians represent many different communities as they work in bands, and groups, with different instruments, and different musical styles. They collaborate with other musicians, producers, and writers to provide music that appeals to, inspires, educates, and connects people in a worldwide community.

This music composition notebook is dedicated to all of those individuals who hear the music in their heads and hearts and put those notes and songs on paper; dedicated to those who take time to create, write, sing, play, and share the music that enriches our lives. Some of us don’t instinctively hear music before they bring it into existence and it is only after they’ve created it that we have the ability, the opportunity, and can be blessed to hear and respond to their melodies and messages.

It’s exciting to think that maybe, someday, the scores written in this journal may become another of the world’s collections of music we hear, hum, sing, tap our feet, and dance to.
